You are a Nez Perce Native American. You truly have a deep connection with the land. You want to preserve the natural resources. You believe that trees hold power for the human soul. You are ecstatic that you have been chosen as representative of your culture. Your prime object generally is to save nature from human abuse. Now you have a chance to save the ancient forests with your participation on this committee. So a variety of interests may be served also. You also believe very much in the words of Wawatie, an Algonquin, even though he lives in Quebec. The following reflects the reasons for his actions and feelings. "She lived exclusively off the land and she's the one who transmitted all this culture to us-everything which comprises how to live off the land, our food, our language," says Wawatie. "That's what we're trying to preserve and pass on to our children, for their self-sufficiency and survival." This appeared in an article entitled Winter 2000 Hemispheric Digest which appeared January 30, 2001, regarding Algonquins blocking clear cutting.
