Jefferson H.S. is located in South Central Los Angeles and has served this community since 1916. Over the last decades many accomplished individuals have attended our school, including choreographer Alvin Ailey, diplomat and Nobel Peace Prize winner Ralph Bunche, actress Dorothy Dandridge and jazz saxophonist Dexter Gordon. Many famous pop and jazz musicians attended Jefferson in the 1950s and 60s. Today, Jefferson strives to produce accomplished, skilled, and responsible graduates who will be ready to analyze and solve the problems of this increasingly diverse community in the 21st century.
