Prop BB: Safety and Technology Project
Jefferson High School
Los Angeles Unified School District, Los Angeles, California
Updated September 20, 2000

Jefferson High School is one of two schools in the former Jefferson Cluster to be a part of round one of the Prop BB Safety and Technology Program which is replacing the classroom phones, fire alarm system, school intercom, security system and installing wiring to each classroom and office for a computer network.

The State funded Digital High School program requires a high speed network that will facilitate communication between computers in classrooms throughout the campus with the Internet.  The trenching and pipes that were paid for with Prop BB funds are located underground and carry the network infrastructure.  The network consists of signal and power cables that are run to a number of power hubs, which in turn connect the classrooms in that area to the school's network.

Many Network Power Stations are located on campus.

These access panels can be seen in the image above.

Power and signal cables are run throughout the campus.

Trenching has placed the pipes more than 4 feet deep.

Thank you again tax payers!
