Garden/Environment Club
The Jefferson High School Garden Club was created to help students learn gardening skills and learn the joys of growing and tending for plants in an urban environment. Since 1993 science classes have tended and conducted experiments in the school garden. Future plans include installing a native plant area which would include a butterfly garden, a pond for biological studies, and improve the greenhouse to assist in germinating plants. Mr. Collins is preparing to start a project in hydroponics (see Hydroponicsonline). If you would like to contribute, we are in regular need of:
- Seeds for vegetables and native plants
- Compost
- Mulch
- Gardening Tools
- Watering Systems
- Composting bins
- Gardening expertise
- Potting soil
