Harvard is once again a recipient of the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award! Our 2010/2011 API score was 856!

Our new principal is Mark Paz. Please give him a warm welcome when you see him this Fall.

We are sad to announce that Mrs. Estrada will be leaving in the fall. She will be the principal at Commonwealth Elementary. She has been Harvard's principal since 2005, even before the school was finished being built. Click here to download a PDF copy of her good-bye letter.

Please make sure to check your child's backpack/school bag every night for school bulletins or notes from the office or classroom.

Parents, be actively involved in our school community! Please join a Parent Committee -CEAC (Compensatory Education Advisory Committee) or ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee).

Congratulations Harvard Huskies, we have been awarded the 2010 California Distinguished Schools Award. The award identifies and honors those schools that have demonstrated educational excellence for all students and progress in narrowing the achievement gap.

BEFORE SCHOOL

The Harvard school day begins at 8:00 a.m. Students will be picked up by teachers at 7:55 a.m. Students should not arrive before 7:30 a.m.

Students should use the Kingsley Street entrance. Cars may drop off students on the west side of Kingsley going south from Oakwood Ave. The Harvard Blvd. entrance is for students with disabilities riding the bus and parents wishing to speak to the office. Remember that double parking is illegal and children should cross streets only at intersections.

Students arriving late (after 8:00) will need to pick up a tardy slip from the office.

SAFETY, RESPONIBILITY, BEHAVIOR PLANS AND DRESS CODES

Parents - Please review the Harvard Plan for Safe and Responsible Behavior throughout the school year. It includes information regarding responsible behavior, attendance, tardiness, and the school dress code and uniform.

Click here to read the Harvard Behavior Plan.

School Dress Code and Uniform

Students should wear the school uniform every school day. Harvard's school colors are maroon (burgundy), white, and tan. Navy blue pants and dresses are also acceptable. Uniforms with the the school name and Husky mascot are available through Carrusel School & Uniforms. See the Harvard Behavior Plan for details on clothing that is not permitted.

RECYCLING

Our school is actively recycling classroom and cafeteria waste. Every classroom now has a blue collection bin and larger collection bins are located near the cafeteria area. In addition, we are collecting used, empty printer toner cartridges. Students can bring the cartridges in plastic baggies to the office and they will be mailed to a collection site. We are also collecting empty Capri Sun pouches.
