Outline School Calendar-
HTPA School-wide fund raiser- Please join HTPA in a Fun Run /Walk on Friday January 27th. HTPA is asking that each student raise at least $10 for the event. The proceeds go towards HTPA Student Body, which funds dances, pep rallies, award ceremony and all sports. The Advisory team that raises the most funds wins a pizza party.

Applicants for 2017 to 2018 - Application Packet - Click
Applicants for 2017 to 2018 - Applications are due Thursday December 15 by 4:00 pm. into the main office. Students will be allowed to sign up for an interview if their application is completed. Applications not completed will be returned. Interviews will be held January 9. Interviews last about 10 minutes. Interview times are from 1:00 - 3:00pm - More information

HTPA is proud to announce that Amber Smith was awarded the State Farm Youth Advisory Board Service-Learning grant for the HTPA Teaching Project.
State Farm is committed to empowering students, promoting service learning, and impacting communities by granting HTPA seventy-five thousand dollars. Thank you to Amber Smith for doing such a great job!
Scholarship Opportunities -
University Tutor holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write a short essay in response to a monthly prompt. The submitted essays are reviewed by University Tutor staff at the end of the month and one winner is chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. All students at HTPA are expected to fill out the lunch application. Students who qualify for free or reduce lunch will receive several benefits, AP test $5, free SAT/ACT test registration, and free college application

Smarter Balance Test
Congratulations HTPA students for their performance on the Smarter Balance test. Students scored at 92% for meeting and/or exceeding state standards on the ELA.

Congratulations HTPA- HTPA has received the Gold Ribbon Award and is a Title One Academic Achieving School!
Gold Ribbon - A new program for 2015-2016 which honors some of California's outstanding public schools. Schools that are selected demonstrate exemplary achievements in implementing state standards in priority areas. The committee will visit HTPA Monday March 30 for a site validation. In April the winners of the Gold Ribbon will be announced
Congratulations HTPA Academic Decathlon -
LOS ANGELES - Eleven academic decathlon teams including HTPA, from the Los Angeles Unified School District will travel to Sacramento to compete in the 2015 California Academic Decathlon contest, scheduled for March 19-22. More....
Common Core State Standards -HTPA uses CCSS to drive the instructional practices of our teachers. Teachers lead high-level, text-based, in-class discussions to promote critical thinking among all students. Teachers ensure that all students are engaged using project-based assignments and purposeful, productive groups. The higher-order thinking skills that are required of HTPA students have been derived from Costa's Levels of Questioning. Teachers use this source to lead inquiry-based discussions such as Socratic Seminars where students construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. More....
