  • The National Title I Association has been selecting examples of superior Title I school programs for national recognition through the National Title I Distinguished Schools program since 1966. In 2010, Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy was selected as a National One Distinguished School based on Exceptional Student Performance for Two or More Consecutive Years.

    This award recognizes schools that demonstrate a wide array of strengths, including team approaches to teaching and learning, focused professional development opportunities for staff, individualized programs for student success and strong partnerships between the school, parents, and the community. Congratulations HTPA- HTPA has received the Gold Ribbon Award and is a Title One Academic Achieving School!

Acceptance Letters - HTPA has sent out the first round of acceptance letters for incoming 9th graders 2015-2016 school year. There will be two more rounds of acceptance letters mailed out by June 19th, 2015.

Graduation Tickets - Every Senior at HTPA will receive 5 tickets for the graduation ceremony. Additional tickets will be available for a cost of $5 a piece.

Graduation Ceremony- HTPA will be holding graduation at Los Angeles Harbor College at the Sea Hawk Stadium. The ceremony will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Grad Night- Will be held on Saturday June 6, 2015 at Disney Land. Please arrive at HTPA at 9:00 a.m. Students will return to HTPA on Sunday at 3:00 a.m.

Gold Ribbon - A new program for 2015-2016 which honors some of California's outstanding public schools. Schools that are selected demonstrate exemplary achievements in implementing state standards in priority areas. The committee will visit HTPA Monday March 30 for a site validation. In April the winners of the Gold Ribbon will be announced

 

Congratulations HTPA Academic Decathlon -

LOS ANGELES - Eleven academic decathlon teams including HTPA, from the Los Angeles Unified School District will travel to Sacramento to compete in the 2015 California Academic Decathlon contest, scheduled for March 19-22. More....

Common Core State Standards -HTPA uses CCSS to drive the instructional practices of our teachers.  Teachers lead high-level, text-based, in-class discussions to promote critical thinking among all students.  Teachers ensure that all students are engaged using project-based assignments and purposeful, productive groups.  The higher-order thinking skills that are required of HTPA students have been derived from Costa's Levels of Questioning.  Teachers use this source to lead inquiry-based discussions such as Socratic Seminars where students construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. TUTORING H.S. MATH CLASSES- If your child mathematic grade in H.S. is a "C" or lower, he/she is required to attend mandatory Tutoring Session on Saturday from 9:00 - 1:00 pm.
