Mission, Vision and Belief Statements
Mission Statement
Granada Elementary School is a neighborhood LEARN school committed to meeting the individual needs of our students, emphasizing their importance as individuals at home, school and in the community. Staff, parents and community work together to motivate students to realize their full potential in a safe, positive and educationally stimulating environment.
Vision Statement
Granada Elementary School has been providing a quality education since 1928 and continues to welcome the future by preparing the children of today for the challenges of tomorrow.
Belief Statements
We believe that to maximize a student's ability to learn the school, home and community must form a meaningful partnership. We accomplish this by:
- Providing a variety of approaches to reach all students
- Recruiting parent involvement and support
- Providing a safe, healthy, nurturing, positive environment
- Having high expectations for all students
We believe parents can help their children become better learners by:
- Providing a supportive home environment where their basic needs are met
- Exposing children to extracurricular activities
- Being involved in their children's education - Parent involvement includes:
- Reading, communicating and volunteering
We believe teachers and paraprofessionals can help students become better learners by:
- Being organized, patient and informed
- Being positive role models
- Using a variety of strategies to meet the needs of all students. For example:
- Capitalizing on each student's interests, hobbies and individual learning styles
- Using positive motivation
We believe schools and classrooms should promote life long learning by broadening access to stimulating educational experiences and materials:
- Providing real world experiences where children apply problem solving and decision-making skills. (Granada Play Leaders and Student Council)
- Collaborating with community resources including adopt-a-school partners
