 The wolf is a legendary animal because of their howl, they use it to communicate with the pack.They weigh from 40 to 175 pounds. Wolves live from 6 to 8 years. Wolves are the biggest of the dog family. Gray wolves are the most common and at a time found all over the Northern Hemisphere. They almmost never attack people, they are known as one of Earth's most fearsome natural villains. In 48 states, gray wolves were hunted so much, they were almost extinct. Some populations have survived and others have been extinct since born. Red wolves became extinct in 1980. Scitntiest made a breeding program with a small number of red wolves. Today probably about 100 red wolves survive. The maned wolf is a descendant from the gray wolf and red wolf.This animal looks like a large red fox. In wolfpacks, the wolves are arranged by a fierce male at the front and his mate not far behind, usually they are the only ones to breed. The packs's adults help to take care for the young wolves by feeding them and protecting them while other wolves go out to hunting.
