About Our School
Eshelman Avenue School

Welcome to Eshelman Avenue Elementary School in lovely Lomita, California. Lomita has a small town feel, and our school reflects this warm, family oriented atmosphere. Serving the community continuously since opening its doors in 1924, Eshelman is now home to a rich and diverse student population, currently comprised of 700 children in Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth grades.

Over 30 different nationalities are represented in our school, and more than a dozen languages in addition to English are spoken daily on our campus. With a strong emphasis on delivering fundamental knowledge and skills in the core subjects of reading, writing, and mathematics, we also offer instruction in social studies, science, technology, and the Arts to insure a well-rounded educational experience for our students. At Eshelman Avenue Elementary School we never settle for less than our best: every member of our Eshelman “Family” - students, parents, staff, and community volunteers - is a unique and valued component of our vibrant school culture.

Principal's Message

School principal

Here at Eshelman Avenue Elementary school we are fortunate to have a highly qualified and dedicated staff of administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, and support personnel. In addition, we enjoy the generous contributions of a devoted group of community-based volunteers.

Our vision is to provide a solid foundation of essential knowledge and skills for all of our students, so that every child who attends our school is able to continue on his or her educational journey equipped with the primary tools for academic success. Parents and families are a crucial component in this process: it truly does take a village to raise a happy, healthy, well-educated child. With your encouragement, support, and participation, your child is well on his or her way to a fruitful and fulfilling future. As always, we welcome your visits and encourage your attendance at parent/teacher conferences and informational meetings. Together, we can shape the future one child at a time.
