More Programs at Erwin Elementary the foundation for higher education

Erwin Street Elementary School has numerous programs to enrich our students' education. In addition to providing a solid academic foundation, we strive to instill positive values and address character education and healthy living issues.
    Character Counts!

Students and staff pledge to be the best they can be by practicing the "Six Pillars of Character" every day.
  • Trustworthiness - being honest, telling the truth, and keeping promises
  • Respect - judging people on their merts, being courteous and polite, appreciating and accepting individual differences
  • Responsibility - fulfilling your school, family and community obligations; think ahead, set reasonable goals, control your temper and do not give up easily
  • Fairness - playing by the rules, taking turns, sharing and listening; be tolerant and try to understand what others are saying and feeling
  • Caring - being kind, helpful, and generous to everyone
  • Citizenship - doing your share to help your family and make your school and community a better place; playing by the rules

    Armenian Classes

After-school classes are offered thanks to the Davidian and Mariamian Educational Foundation. Established in 1987, the foundation is a non-profit organization serving children in Southern California public schools. Children are taught to respect diversity living in our beautiful multi-cultural society as law abiding and responsible citizens.

    Recycling Program

Erwin recycles paper products as well as milk and juice cartons. In addition, our ink and toner cartridge recycling program earns money for our student body account.

    PeaceBuilders

The PeaceBuilder pledge is posted around campus and often recited at assemblies. It embodies positive character traits and actions. It promotes responsibilty and consideration.
  • I am a Peace Builder
    I pledge to praise people
    To give up put-downs
    To seek wise people
To notice and speak up about hurts I have caused
    To right wrongs
I will build peace at home, at school and in my community each day

    Federal Lunch Program (Menus)
Our cafeteria serves free and reduced price breakfast and lunch to over 1,000 children each school day. At the beginning of each year all students are given a meal program application. Students who meet eligibility for free or reduced meals will use cards for breakfast and/or lunch. Students who do not meet the eligibility may purchase cards for lunch or breakfast at the regular prices. All children wishing to pay for lunch should purchase their cards before school. Breakfast is served from 7:30 A.M. to 7:50 A.M. Children will not be fed after 7:50, so it is very important to arrive on time.
    Regular Prices: Breakfast - $.40 Lunch - $1.00 Reduced Prices: Breakfast - FREE Lunch - $.40
