100 Mile Club®

100 Mile Club®The 2010-2011 school year marked the first year that El Oro Way Elementary 5th grade students took part in the 100 Mile Club®. Taken from their website, the mission of the 100 Mile Club® is to provide the opportunity to run or walk 100 miles at school during a single school year and to improve school readiness to learn, creating better educational outcomes, building self-esteem and overall improved health in the lives of children and others.

The program was a huge success and the children had a great time reaching, and even surpassing, their goals. Many of the 5th graders ran well over 100 miles throught the school year! Below are some photos of 5th graders running. In the middle photo, David Cho was the first to reach the first 25 mile milestone, and received his 100 Mile Club® t-shirt. His fellow classmates were there, cheering him on. There are also photos of each 5th grade class at the awards ceremony. To learn more about the 100 Mile Club, click here.
