I
am honored to have been selected as the Superintendent
for Local District 8. I am committed to serving all
of the constituents in the communities of San Pedro,
Wilmington, Lomita, Harbor City, Carson, Gardena, and
South Los Angeles. We celebrate the magnificent diversity
in Local District 8 and pledge that all of our students
will receive a high quality education in a safe and
nurturing environment.
As
I begin my tenure as Superintendent, I want to share
my priorities with you:
- We
will work to ensure that we provide high quality
instruction and a coherent
and rigorous curriculum
in every classroom to facilitate learning and
achievement at high levels.
- We
will facilitate the use of data to drive all
decision-making and ensure effective core
instruction for all students,
coupled with support and intervention, when
students need extra assistance or accelerated
learning.
- We
will build the capacity of every adult who works
with children through the establishment
of professional
learning communities that translate into
improved teaching and learning.
With
administrators, teachers, staff, parents and community
members working together, we can realize
our vision
of 100% of our students being college prepared
and career ready. Your partnership is critical
to our
success, and I welcome your input on how better
to serve you.

in the education of our students and are
provided with numerous opportunities to be
actively involved. At the school site, parents
can volunteer, join PTSA, serve on Title

Site Advisory Councils. Local District 8
also provides parents and community members
with opportunities to be involved in the
Local District Parent Community Advisory
Council (LDPCAC), Council of Councils, CEAC/ELAC,
and PHBAO.
We
are proud of our students and their accomplishments,
but we acknowledge that there are areas of
needed improvement. Local District 8 is committed
to continuing and improving collaborative
partnerships with all of our stakeholders
- our parents, teachers, administrators,
and community members. Together, we will
strive to provide an educational environment
that eliminates the achievement gap, raises
student achievement for all students, and
provides outstanding instruction in every
classroom in Local District 8.
