Washington Involving Neighborhoods
The
community surrounding Washington Preparatory High School's
will be served by
a "Safe School Heathy School" grant.
The Safe School
Healthy Student grant for Los Angles Unified School
District in the Washington Preparatory High School community
has been funded for $8.8 million over four years.
This award will allow the District, in partnership with
local public mental health, law enforcement, and juvenile
justice entities, to implement a comprehensive plan
for Washington Preparatory High School Community that
focuses on the following elements:
• Safe school environments and violence prevention
activities
• Alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention
activities
• Student behavioral, social, and emotional supports
• Mental health services
• Early childhood social and emotional learning
programs
This comprehensive plans is designed to provide students,
schools, and families with a network of effective services,
supports, and activities that help students develop
the skills and emotional resilience necessary to promote
positive mental health, engage in pro-social behavior,
and prevent violent behavior and drug use; create schools
and communities that are a safe, disciplined, and drug-free
environment; and engage parents, community organizations,
and social service agencies to help develop an infrastructure
that will sustain the grant components after federal
funding has ended.

RevolutionPrep
CAHSEE Support
High School
students using RevolutionPrep
achieve a higher rate
of success passing the CAHSEE exam compared to students
not participating in a CAHSEE tutorial. RevolutionPrep
is provided through Beyond
The Bell for High School Juniors and Seniors who need
assistance. One account is available for a student until
the CAHSEE is passed - this includes attending Adult School.
Some schools are providing RevolutionPrep accounts for
Freshmen and Sophmores.
Local Distrct 8 Option Schools' Mathematics teachers can
expect an optortunity for training with ReolvutionPrep
during the 2008-2009 school year.
