District 6 BTSA Mission and Vision

Provide to school communities coaching and instructional support that include research-based professional development opportunities and monitoring, resulting in rigorous standards- based instruction and curricula, challenging our students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners.

The local district and school sites will develop, support and sustain Professional Nested Learning Communities where all participants are both teachers and learners, in safe environments that ensure equity and access to rigorous learning for all.

Induction Program

State Assembly Bill 2042 requires teachers with a Preliminary Credential to complete a two-year Induction Program, if offered by their school district. Since LAUSD has a BTSA Induction Program, you can only clear your preliminary credential through this program. Upon completion and an Exit Portfolio Review teachers will be recommended to receive a Professional Clear Credential.

Year 1

  • Register and Attend One LAUSD BTSA Year 1 Orientation
  • Enroll in LAUSD BTSA and State BTSA Program
  • Obtain and Maintain a LAUSD E-Mail Account
  • Attend 6 hours of District 6 BTSA Seminars
  • Complete FACT (Formative Assessment for California Teachers) with Support Provider
    • Healthy Environment and Teaching English Language Learners Evidence of Growing Proficiency embedded in FACT
  • Complete the State Survey (April - May)
  • Complete the Program Evaluation Survey
  • Attend a Year End Colloquium
  • Attend a Portfolio Review
  • *Optional Attend a Mid-Year Symposium

  • Complete Induction Standards Evidence of Growing Proficiency
    • Standard 16 – Technology (If not completed in Yr. 1)
    • Standard 17 –Equity and Diversity
    • Standard 19 –Teaching English Learners
  • Complete the State Survey (April-May)
  • Complete the Program Evaluation Survey
  • Attend Year End Colloquium
  • Attend a Portfolio Review
  • *Optional Attend a Mid-Year Symposium
 
 

Professionalism

  • Register or RSVP to required events
  • Cancel when necessary to help us avoid unnecessary expenses
  • Be prompt to all meetings/events
  • Bring required materials or confirmations
  • Unrelated materials should not be at event, i.e.:
    • Ipods or MP3 players
    • Papers to be graded
    • Novels, newspapers, reading material
    • Internet or phone texting
    • Knitting
    • Puzzles
  • Be present in the meeting
    • Give your full attention to the speaker
    • Participate and contribute
    • Have a collegial attitude
  • Listen to understand and learn
  • Put cell phones on “meeting status"
  • Constructive feedback on evaluations is welcomed
