Dear Parents,

Students and staff are hard at work in the classroom covering all the curricular topics required to meet state standards. It is important that you support your child by providing organized routines for completing homework. A quiet location in your home should be set aside and a set time should be established for working on homework. In addition your child should be encouraged to read nightly so that they improve their reading skills. Keep your eyes open for a flyer coming home regarding parent workshops. We will be offering these through Reading is Fundamental during the coming weeks and months to give parents techniques for working with their child in reading.

Please mark your calendars for the week of December 5-9, 2005 for Parent Conferences. This will be an opportunity to find out how your child has done during the 1st reporting period. We expect all parents to attend and look forward to your participation.

Sincerely,

Hoff W. Brooks

Principal

NOTE TO PARENTS: We have provided the following websites for your child's fun and enjoyment and to assist them in conducting research on the web. Please take note that because of the nature of the Internet, and the World Wide Web in particular, it is still possible to access a series of links that may take one to almost anywhere. In other words, in spite of our efforts to supply appropriate material and links on this page, parents should supervise children while they surf the Web. LAUSDnet recommends that before allowing your children to travel the Web, you read Parent's Guide to the Internet by the U.S. Dept. of Education with your family.
