Special Programs H.O.S.T.S. (Helping One Student To Succeed) is a nation-wide known program focused on helping students in Language Arts; including reading, writing, listening, speaking, and thinking. With the help of volunteers, students receive individual attention for 1/2 hour a day up to 4 days a week. Pupil Services and Attendance (PSA) After School Programs Beyond the Bell --Free Tutoring Applications sent home via US Mail. Applications can also be picked up at the school office. LAUSD Nutrition Network Harvest of the Month changes each month. The goal of the "Harvest of the Month" program is to increase enjoyment and consumption of fruits and vegetables. To motivate students to make healthy choices, they will taste and explore the different fruits and vegetables featured each month. This educational material encourages open-ended exploration in which the process is more important than the answer. Ready, Set, Go! This is a new program to assist parents with their children early in the morning. We supervise your children for one and a half hour before school begins. It is a FREE program for any student that is enrolled in our school. Any student may enroll in this program. Space is limited to the first 80 students--but spaces are available now. If you are interested in enrolling your children in this great program, please see any of the ladies in the main office or call Rick Castro at (310) 515-3010 Monday-Friday 3:00-6:00 PM. Shake 2008 Dear Parents and Guardians, The safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priorities. To provide schools an opportunity to practice emergency response procedures, the Superintendent of Schools has asked all students and staff to participate in a District-wide emergency preparedness drill on in the spring . Please be advised that students will be dismissed at the regular time on this day. The goals of the training drill are to improve our ability to protect students, save lives, and reduce injuries. As part of the drill, students and staff will participate in the activation of our school's Safe Schools Plan. You are encouraged to participate in this drill. Prior to the drill, please discuss with your child your family's home preparedness plan. Several resources are available to help you prepare. The American Red Cross has outstanding materials. You can obtain Red Cross materials in English or in Spanish from their web site: http://www.redcross.org or by calling the Los Angeles Chapter at (213) 739-5200. Your telephone directory also has valuable information on first aid, CPR, and home preparedness.
