Philosophical Overview:

L.A.U.S.D. Instructional programs for gifted and talented students are based on the principles that all students are to receive an education appropriate to their individual capabilities, interests, and needs, and that students have learning opportunities that help develop their abilities to the highest level.

Located across from the L.A. Zoo--offers summer camp for students 3-12 years old. Classes vary in length and topic. Classes begin late June through mid-July. Fee differes for members and non-members. Call (323) 667-2000 for more information.

3. California African-American Museum 600 State Dr. (Exposition Park), Los Angeles, CA 90037 www.caamuseum.org In partnership with the Art Center of Pasadena offers high school students visual arts skills to gain exposure to career opportunitiies in several design fields. Scholarships are available. Classes start June 5-August 14. For applicaitons and information regarding classes, do not contact the museum. 4. California Science Center 700 State Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90037 www.californiasciencecenter.org Located in Exposition Park--Offers classes in spring, summer, and fall. Summer classes for ages 4-17 are M-F from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Classes are one week in length on a variety of topics. 11. Long Beach Aquarium 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802 (Off Shoreline Drive). www.aquariumofpacific.org Family and children programs are available year round. Summer Day Camp sessions are full or half days 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 1-5 for ages 7-13. Sessions are the last week in June through the first week in August.
