PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
A Message From Mr. Haege
Dear Parents and Community Members,
It’s parent conference time! You are invited to one of the most important occasions of the school year – a parent-teacher conference. The parent-teacher conference gives you an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, discuss your child’s progress, and discuss any concerns or issues you may have. You will receive a note from your child’s teacher regarding the scheduling of the conference. Send confirmation back to the teacher immediately so the teacher may schedule or reschedule your conference to fit both your schedules. Here are some helpful tips for a successful conference with your child’s teacher:
Parent Tips
Before the Conference
· Talk with your child about school – likes, dislikes, feelings.
· Write down your questions and/or concerns for the teacher.
· Show up on time for the conference. Call the teacher if you need to reschedule.
During the Conference
· Discuss your questions and/or concerns with the teacher.
· Listen carefully to everything the teacher says.
· If you don’t understand something, ask to have it explained.
· Ask for suggestions for things you can do at home to help your child.
· Assure the teacher of your continued support.
After the Conference
· Talk with your child about the conference. Share any positive comments the teacher made. Let your child know you are proud.
· Follow up with any suggestions you and the teacher agreed upon.
· Be sure to contact the teacher any time you have a question or concern.
Parent Conference week is December 13 – 17. Thank you in advance for your support and your participation in your child’s parent-teacher conference.

Attendance Matters!
Students need to be in school and arrive to school on time. Students need to be in school to learn the standards and meet the expectations of our school district. ATTENDANCE MATTERS! Students who come to school get better grades, have better social skills, and are more likely to graduate high school and go to college. Every time a student comes to school, the school gets much-needed money to pay for support staff, books, instructional materials, and important school supplies.
Parent Tips
· Discuss the importance of going to school with your child.
· Work with school personnel to remedy any problems that may be keeping your child from going to school.
· Get your child to school on time every day. 7:55 – line-up bell. 8:00 – Instruction begins
· Don’t plan family vacations and non-emergency medical and dental appointments at times when your child should be in school.
It’s the Law!
Remember: Parents and guardians are legally responsible for making sure their children go to school every day and arrive on time!
Winter Holiday Program
The Winter Holiday Program is scheduled for Thursday, December 16. Two performances for parents and community members are scheduled for 9:00 AM and 11:45 AM, in the school auditorium. A flyer will be sent home the first week in December listing the classrooms which will be performing at each performance.
